Is getting into Johns Hopkins as competitive as it is to get into an Ivy League?
What extracurriculars + SAT score would help me to get into Johns Hopkins?

For the Class of 2023, overall acceptance rate was about 9.2%, and Regular Decision acceptance rate was about 7.7%. For Class of 2022, ACT middle 50% range was 33-35 and unweighted average GPA was 3.93. So, while acceptance rates are not as low as the most exclusive Ivies, admission is still rather competitive. As with any other school, focus on ECs that show your personal interests and talents.
Extremely competitive ,may a tad bit easier than ivy, my son got waitlisted in top IVs and got in in Hopkins in RD last year . ED might be a bit easier.
Agree with it being extremely competitive, and I think Hopkins weighs GPA and test scores more than other schools which also evaluate applicants holistically.
It’s as competitive as most Ivies and even more competitive than some.
Best way to get into Hopkins is to have really good grades and test scores while also being a really good lacrosse player. But seriously, Hopkins is right up there with the Ivies. In fact, as far as selectivity, I’d put it in the so-called “Ivy equivalent” category (Duke, Chicago, MIT etc …).
It is probably as hard to get a certain GPA at Hopkins as top Ivies, but easier than MIT or Caltech. That is why it is not a good idea for medical school, as med schools are rated on GPA and MCAT. So better to got to like a #100 rated school if you really want to go to med school.
It is probably like # 20 or 30 in term of difficulty to get into. However, the school is really hard and they take people more on academics. They are less interested in SAT aptitude scores and ECs than most top schools. They want to see almost all As in almost all AP classes and reflected in high AP exam and subject test scores. They also take a lot from over represented ethnic and geographic demographics.
