So far I can only enroll in classes that are in the department of my major but I would like to take classes outside my major and when I try to sign up it says I can't. When does WebReg get rid of these restrictions? Is it likely I will be able to add classes outside my major when the time comes?

get into major only classes: you need to be declared for the major or assorted majors (so econ = business econ, econ, and quant econ; regardless of specialization)

im assuming you are a incoming first year? if a class is major only, i means only kids in the major can get in. your registration is weird, i can only be between certain hours of the day too.

what exactly is webreg saying? also, consider emailing your counselor…

you might be able to do it with an add card on the first day

Yeah you really can’t get into the major only classes until like September or something, when everybody under that major gets those classes because they need it for their requirements. If you do really want to get in, you can dry getting an add card and having the professor sign it to add you in.

A couple of weeks before school starts in September, a few classes listed as majors only, which haven’t filled, will become open to non-majors. But most won’t before classes start. If you’ve met any prerequisities and go to the first class meeting with an add card, the prof. may let you in.
