how to get into think tanks?

so i am a recent University of Virginia grad with a bachelors in english language and literature. i would love to be employed as a research assistant at think tanks such as The Brookings Institution and/or CSIS in D.C. This however, is a recent interest of mine so I did not do much in college to consciously prepare for such work. I also have no real internship experience in the field. So what do you guys suggest I do to make myself an attractive candidate to do research in Think Tanks? How can I build my resume? Where do I start?

Any advice is really appreciated!

What about the Wayne Foundation?

Also, you should probably think about networking and asking someone connected with your school(which is nearby DC)…

Get a job in Congress.

Just get with an Armor unit in your state and ask if you can sit in one of their tanks for some serious brainiac time.

I am a humanities major who is finishing up a summer position at a major D.C. think tank. PM me if you have any specific questions.
