How to get into UCI?

<p>I'm an Asian American, and I'm not sure how I can get into UCI...</p>

<p>I have SAT score: 1700/2400 and 3.4 GPA unweighted and 3.3 weighted.
I did a lot of club leadership, community service, i have a positive background, but...yea.</p>

<p>Why is UCI so competitive? Its not like UCLA or Harvard... It seems like all the genius goes there...</p>

<p>Can anyone help me... Should i meet with councilor or something and find a way??
I still have a two months left, before the admission deadline...
Should i just forget about it, and just apply, and if i get accepted, go, if i get rejected, just forget about it?</p>

<p>What is your UC GPA? That’s the one that counts.</p>

<p>BTW…the reason why UCI is hard to get into is because it’s a strong school for STEM majors. Many pre-meds go there as well because it has a med school. </p>

<p>Are you instate for UCI? Do you live in the geographical area? </p>

<p>You should also retest. Your scores are lowish, altho the UCs weight UCGPA more heavily. </p>

<p>If you’re instate, also apply to Riverside, Merced, and Santa Cruz.</p>

<p>Yes i am in-state. I’m at Orange County, and Irvine is only 15 minutes away.</p>

<p>Excluding 12th grade (since we started High School like 2 weeks ago) from 10-11, average is: 3.46 (I typed 2 Honors- AP Stat, Honors Pre Calc- both weighted)</p>

<p>I wish i could have a chance to get in…</p>

<p>Also, wouldn’t it not be that competitive, if i pick an easy major? like medical or science-related is really competitive, and hard to get in. but, if i pick an easy major, don’t i have a chance of getting into UCI?</p>

<p>I wanna get in, cuz of college experience, and everything, and since its the safest university in the world. I’m not going there, cuz i’m desperate about the future.</p>

<p>Definitely apply, work hard on that essay. I think most students apply as undeclared but have to pick a college. Like letters of science, engineering etc. Unfortunately, UCs are getting way competitive perhaps due to the sheer number of students applying. A lot of kids who don’t get in go the Community college route and transfer in, instead of going to the other State schools. How is your current class load? Some kids appeal and get in as Spring admit based on their senior year gpa and they raise their SAT.</p>
