This is almost like a chance thread but instead, I would like the current students of UCI to post their scores that helped them get into the school.
Including GPA/SAT/SAT II/Extra curric/etc.

This would make a great reference thread rather than having those people go around asking "chance me" they would just go here to compare to those who were accepted!

Of course, I myself would love to attend this school and would like to compare with other people.

The previous 2 posters are just messing with you...I think. Anyways you don't need to have tip top grades/scores to get into UCI. I got in with a 3.90W GPA, 1750 SATI, and sub par SAT II scores. What saved me were my extracurriculars like sports and yearbook. Good luck and if you have any questions I'll be glad to answer.

Assuming by getting in the OP meant getting in as having a 100% accept chance then you kinda do need those stats. And by the looks of people who post on CC, I wouldn't be surprised.

I got in with an average 3.98 GPA as well (because I kind of slipped first semester junior year, which put me out of the chance at maintaining a 4+ average). And my scores were pretty average (about 1700 on the SATS, less than 600 on my SAT2 tests, and I think a 25 on my ACTs). Lots of extra-curricular activities are always good to have. I did stuff like band, orchestra, varsity tennis, journalism, polynesian dance, color & design, and loads of volunteer work. As shown by the posters before me, to be well-rounded and involved with your community and/or high school show that you're in good shape come time for those college apps.

I don't like how they only put "Admits"
I mean, UCI has to be like the biggest safety school for everyone that's applying to UCSD and up.
They should post the enrollment
i'm pretty sure it'll be around 3.7-8 gpa
w/ 1700 sat

I think even if you lack in one (i mean like 3.4+), if you get a decent SAT/ACT score (1900/29-30) then you're in...considering you have good EC and a decent essay.

The reason why some people with 4.0+ gets rejected from these schools is because
1) their essay shows no effort
2) they only focused on their grades so they don't have any ECs
3) their SAT/ACT score is super low which clearly shows that their school has very low standards

Thanks to all those who have already posted =]. I very much appreciate it, and I'm sure all others who apply to UCI will appreciate it too!
But of course, the more knowledge, the better!
So I please ask that those of you who have received admission to UCI please post your Stats to help the rest of us compare!

3.8-ish weighted GPA, 2070 SAT I. SAT II: Chinese:780 Math:710 History:640
EC: Library Volunteer (150 hours ish), Kendo (only for a few months), Community service club, head of chinese chess club (kinda bs)

Class of 2008
GPA 4.0+ UC and ~3.9 school GPA
SAT 1710 and 1690 (argh)
SAT2's Physics 710, Math2 740 and 650, US history....ergh...it was really low
Awesome essays.
Decent set of EC's, piano, swim team, team captain, Special Olympics coach for disabled kids, and a programming class at a CC.

yeah...nothing too special.

ALSO, Irvine is NOT really a "safety" anymore (I don't see it that way). The only thing I think that got me in was my GPA and essays. I think irvine is more of a match, for me at least.

UCI is a young, public university, and old and private are strongly positive factors in many ranking schemes . UCI has some highly prestigious departments and is generally an up-and-coming school, so for some majors it can be the hardest UC to get into. In the arts, for instance, where you have to audition to be accepted into the major, showing both technical proficiency and creative promise., Dance is consistently ranked among the best in the country. Drama is among the top dozen U.S. programs, and the new Musical Theatre major is the best in the UC system. In the humanities,. the English department is exceptional. Literary Criticism and Theory may be the best in the nation and Creative Writing is one of the top five or six. French is excellent; so is Philosophy. In social sciences, Criminology is ranked second in the country (to Duke) that's before the new Law School opens next year (with a faculty "Dream Team').

I don't know enough about the admissions standards for Psychology, Informatics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Environmental Engineering, etc. to be able to tell you how they compare with other top universities, but the excellence of these departments will attract superior students, who are capable of doing their own research and thinking for themselves.
