How to Get Off the Waitlist

PM it to me if you want some true words.

Would it help to have others (teachers, counselor, etc.) call on my behalf? I don’t want them to think I’m desperate…but the truth is that I would do anything to get in. I love washu…

has anyone got in yet from being waitlisted? Don’t final decisions have to be mailed in by now?

spazattack, there’s still another week until SIRs are due.

There’s an official name for those? I thought they were just letters in which you explain why you want to go to a particular school. Does that mean you have to state your intent to register or your chances are significantly lowered?

Shall I send my 3rd quarter grades to my wait-listed schools, however I have one C in AP Econ.

rer, i don’t know if i would go as far as having teachers call on your behalf, but i would definitely say have your counselor call.

sup, i know the UCs call them SIRs, but either way it’s just a shorter way of saying “the letter you send to let them know you pick them.”

oblivion, if you think the rest of your grades show a good performance, go ahead and send them - if it’s going to help you, do it. it’s your call - i don’t really know all of your grades.

the hardest part about waiting now is that there’s not even a specific date. it could be may 10th, it could be june 30th. and i could possibly not get a call at all. yuck.

Does anyone know the waitlist statistics for NYU Tisch. I can’t find them anywhere. For some reason, NYU is super secretive about the admission statistics for the film school.

ooh I thought SIR’s were waitlist letters…my bad

(Bump…)

trackie… WashU is my first choice too… I got waitlisted…I send two email to my regional director…I am so anxious…i sent an email to the director and I think she hinted that I won’t get accepted… so sad :frowning:

Oh well… Emory Class of 2012 here I come!!!

ahhhhhhhhhh, how did she hint that you won’t get accepted? If you don’t mind sharing.

^Yeah that does seem rather strange

People say to stay in touch with their admissions counselors at their preferred school- what do I say? “Hey, still incredibly interested in Barnard, would sell soul to go, etc.”? I don’t want to be pushy but I want to be at the forefront of their minds should they go to the waitlist. I won’t have any more updates – I’m sending in the last of my new recommendations tomorrow – but just sitting back and waiting for whatever will happen to actually happen isn’t my style.

well…Bartlet..there are people who gets accepted off the waitlist without writing anything…as long as you said that it is your first choice, there is nothing you can really do. Like I said, I send an email to them twice. Once telling them that WashU is my first choice. Twice by updating them with new feeds and telling them that they are still my first choice.

For the hint : I received a letter stating that they too are sorry that I didn’t get accepted ( since I was waitlisted) and that other schools will be glad that I will be attending their institution…

even with this letter…it didn’t make me stop trying…its still my first choice…

Here’s an article on waitlist in this week’s Time magazine. Nothing new but interesting read.

interesting

may 1st is coming soon! it means getting off the waitlist is getting closerrrr

I was looking at a washu waitlist thread from last year and some students found out as early as May 10th…just another week or two!

Good luck, everyone. Especially you, trackie10x; from what I’ve read in this thread, you absolutely deserve it.
