Parent here. I know this stuff is online on individual college websites but I find that really unwieldy, to say nothing of amount of paper to print sections. Do schools no longer give out catalogs? We like to be able to compare things side by side......

You should be able to go to most college websites and request a viewbook, and to join their mailing lists. It is usually under prospective students.

I think a better question is how to get printed IN catalogs/viewbooks

I mean seriously how often do these things get up dated?

Hm, I used to go around to the school websites and look for the "request more information" link, but I found that the links provided on theU.com (http://www.theu.com) are as good. Plus, they're all in one place, so you don't have to do a lot of hunting.

Basically, all you do when you get to that website is type in the institution that you want to recieve a viewbook from in the search box, click on the "request more information" link on its page, and then fill out some basic information (name, address, etc.)-- and you're done!

It's worked pretty well for me-- I got stuff from Macalaster and Reed last week via requesting it on the U. ^^

How long did it take to get your stuff?

Just give a call to the admissions office and they should be able to help you out. I'm working in an admissions office this summer (as a tour guide but I do secretarial work when I'm not doing tours) and get calls all the time asking that stuff and usually send it out either that day or the next, though the catalog we provide is a year old.

Victim--
I'm guessing about two to three weeks? I live in Japan, and that's preeety darn good.
But I've heard that colleges won't really start sending to their mailing lists until probably next month because of it being summer and all... so I wouldn't expect all the mail you request to get in within that time period during this season. Because I requested a LOT more than two viewbooks, and I haven't recieved any mail yet (I give it a month at tops, due to location).

I used the site and it certainly saved a lot of time at this point, pre-soph year when we just surveying groups of colleges..Thanks to all for other leads........

noo problemo ;)
