How to get rid of the google toolbar?

In the top right-hand corner of my screen, there is always that annoying google search thing I hate, how do I get rid of this?

-I have gone to Control Panel < Uninstall Programs, it's not there
-I have clicked on the Manage Search Options and it's listed there, but even though I've "Disabled" it, it won't go away
-It's there whether or not google is my homepage
- It's not listed under Default Programs either
I tried this: Google's instructions for getting rid of it but it's not working

if anyone knows how to get rid of this annoying thing, please let me know : ]

are you using firefox? if so, you can go to the apps section (some function on the top) and uninstall it there (I think, I’m using Safari now haha)

Are you referring to the google toolbar or the search field of your browser? If your browser has a search field built in (most do), you can change the search engine you want to use, but you may not be able to remove the field itself.

Nope, internet explorer, and I’m referring to the google toolbar - it shows up regardless of which search engine I use. Even if I’m using bing or yahoo, the google toolbar sits obnoxiously at the top, like this.

Right click on it and a menu should come up where you could uncheck it.

Or go to Tools > Manage Add Ons > Toolbars and Extensions > and mess around and disable Google Toolbar.

I don’t use IE but get Firefox or something dude.

go get firefox or chrome!

awill430 - I’ve tried both the methods you suggested earlier and they didn’t work. Under tools > add ons > toolbars and extensions > the google toolbar doesn’t even show up, it does show up under > search providers > and I disabled it long ago but it still shows up. When I right click it and disable it doesn’t work either!

honestly I’m sorry if I sound anal but something about it is just really annoying. I think it’s such a stupid tool too; let’s say I start typing something into it that starts with “f” like Facebook - instead of facebook (a site I visit daily) popping up, something random I searched once 2 years ago will pop up, like “acne fading product”. Idk it’s just an annoying tool imo.

OK then do this -

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Rest Internet Explorer settings.

i don’t have a windows anymore but im pretty sure you can go to tools > manage add-ons and disable it

It used to be something like
Right click on the toolbar -> Deselect Google toolbar
back when I used to use IE, but that was a long time ago.

seriously, go get firefox. Or Chrome. Or Safari.

i thought safari on windows is crap? on mac, safari is the way to go, though.

I have a mac. Safari FTW!

Seriously get any browser other than IE.

Your problem is that you still use Internet Explorer.

I have reset my internet settings, I have disabled the google toolbar, the damned thing just won’t go away! What an obnoxious feature, it’s worse than herpes.

What are the benefits of using Firefox over IE? will the annoying google toolbar go away? Because I was using my sister’s mac once and I notice she had the annoying google thing too, and she uses Safari

safari’s ‘google thing’ is on the right of the address bar, not below. and you can remove it from view–>customize toolbar anyway.

firefox is faster, more reliable, more customizable than IE. the google thing is on the right of the address bar too, can be removed from the view–>toolbars–>customize

Ok, now I’m using Firefox but that damned google toolbar is STILL there! I clicked “Manage Search Engines” and removed it, but it replaces it with Yahoo, Amazon, Answers.com or other search engines - so I removed all of them but it won’t let me remove the last one remaining!

In Firefox the google thing is on the right of the address bar and Idk how to get rid of it - I went to View > Toolbars > Customize and it wasn’t there with the other stuff!

: (

lol i dunno… in the mac version of firefox if you go to view > toolbars > customize
you can just click and drag the search bar off the toolbar…

“it wasn’t there with the other stuff!”
It shouldn’t be there. You have to drag it from the toolbar.
