I was wondering how to get scholarships for college. I got a 1920 for my SAT and a 3.8 GPA. I heard about websites like fast-web but I am not sure if it legit web site. Thanks for any help.

You can search on the internet for scholarships available in your state, and you should find some sort of list of both private and state funded scholarships. I would start with those. Good luck.

By the way, I live in New York City…

If you need merit scholarships in order to afford college, do NOT rely on private scholarships. Those are often hard to get, for small amounts, and ONLY for freshman year. That would leave you short for following years.

Private scholarships are nice to help pay for books and similar for the first year, but you can’t rely on them to pay for 4 years of college.

If you need scholarships, apply to the schools that will give you some scholarships for your stats. I would suggest retesting and also taking the ACT. You need the highest scores possible in order to get the best merit scholarships.

If you can improve your SAT scores, you might want to look at the McCauley Honors college in NYC, a part of CUNY–tuition is free.

Macauley is staggeringly competitive. I don’t think the OP could bring up his/her stats enough. SAT scores need to be in the 2300 range to have a really good shot.
