HOW TO GET: Self Study Courses to appear to ADcoms

Okay - I've done self study AP courses before, but these have happened in junior and sophomore years. I figured I would just write on my app: by the way, I taught these classes to myself and got 'x' score on them. But with my senior year, I won't have the results of the tests to back up my claims. I would normally just seek an independent study opportunity with a teacher, but no such teacher has been willing to do so.

I am very interested in teaching myself AP Music Theory and AP Economics and will do the work so I am properly prepared for the tests. How can I indicate to colleges with some credibility that that is my plan?

Talk to your GC. Maybe you can keep a log of work you do for those classes and regularly update your GC or another adult on your progress. They could then write a letter detailing what you did and why you expect to get 'x' score.

However, you could just list them as self-study. The AP tests will only give you a leg up if you do well on them, obviously.
