Since I am Junior, I amnot sure how this process works. If I am applying for 20+ schools, do my teachers need to fill out reference letters for each individual school? Or they use one common reference letter. My AP Calc teacher gave me a glowing ref letter for NIH program. Can she just write one reference letter and use the same theme for all the colleges those I apply? I need some suggestions. Thanks

if you use the commonapp they just fill it out once and copy it for each school

That’s good to hear. If the schools are not using Common App, how does it work then? Can the teacher fill out a generic ref letter (based on my credentials) and reprint it and put it in a sealed envelope or email to schools not in the Common App process?

I would suggest to cut number of schools. There is no reason to spread yourself so thin. Don’t you have some idea where you want to be?

At my school, what was done was that the teacher gave the letter to the guidance office and the GCs were responsible for photocopying the letters to send to each college.

As MiamiDAP said, you should really think about reducing your number of schools. I’m sure you have a few schools that you are confident you will get into and others as reach schools. You’re going to have alot of application fees and such and filling out the applications for some of them is not easy.

I think 20+ schools is doable if you have the funds. It’s not crazy like some people make it out to be.

agree with schrizto. also, teachers use the same rec for each school. even if schools have different formats, they usually send the same exact rec. differences between formats usually end up being quite minimal
