how do you get close to teachers to get them to write your college recs? like what do you talk to them about? wouldn't it seem creepy to talk to them about your/their personal life?

Talk in class/be social. That’s it.

what do you mean be social? like in class towards everyone or towards the teacher?

Like in class. Show here that you have a personality, or try to appeal to the teachers interests. Like for example, my English teacher loves me now because i got back into writing.

Or, if you do really good in class (grades wise), the teacher will like you.

Need anything else?

oh okay, thanks a lot!

I usually discuss things like school, current events, and sports with the teachers I have the best relationships with. I got teacher recs from teachers that either taught me twice or were also my coach for a sport. They know me very personally.

i have one teacher who i share a lot in common with in terms of what music we listen to/cultural influences and etc, so i definitely went to him for a recommendation because we converse outside of just answering questions in class and he was able to write about my strengths in communication/knowledge/things like that. i say gravitate to the teachers who teach the classes you’re strongest in first, though, and then just be social and outgoing in class.
