HI,
right now I am looking into flights to the US....which airlines have the best prices? Are there student tickets? BTW I'll be flying out of Innsbruck, Munich, Zurich or Milan.

Hey... I'm flying from Zurich to Boston over London with British Airways. It was by far the cheapest airline that was available, and they also have student tickets, though they tend to sell out rather quickly, so hurry up. I have also gotten great deals with Continental before. Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

U guys have already booked ur tickets for classes that will be starting in August

Yes, sure... They just get more expensive the longer we wait.

The cheapest US deals from Europe are almost always from London. So look into flying there are changing. I flew from Milan Malpensa to London Heathrow for £100 return in February but I think you could get it cheaper from www.easyjet.com, www.ryanair.com or www.flybe.com (and my flight was expensive because it was duing the Turin Winter Olympics) Occasionally a return from London to NY is as cheap as £199. Usually it is about £270 when booked far in advance. Try www.statravel.co.uk too.

I am from Tyrol, austria, so it is easy for me to get to several big airports. the cheapest flights I found where from MIlan to New York, followed by Munich New York...but these where all in the 700Euros....

Yes, flying is really expensive at the moment. Do the 700 Euros already calculate in airport taxes? Because they're really high at the moment, because of the high fuel prices.

try expedia.com if ur not from europre.

Nora, what school will you be attending in Boston?!

Wellesley. Well, not directly IN Boston...

Nora,
I'll be going to Smith...

That's so cool! In the end, it was between Wellesley and Smith for me. Don't you get that "what... you're going to an American women's college in America? Isn't that like a cloyster?" kind of commentary all the time, too?

Also try Delta Airways (Air France). I bought Hamburg>Paris>Boston for 350, roundtrip. But that was during holiday season discount so prices might be higher now. You might still get em for like 450-500, including taxes. And I suggest www.statravel.com -> select your country. They offer really cheap student tickets. Well not always the cheapest, but usually yes. And another thing, can you fly from Paris? That airport has a ridiculously high number of flights to the US, which are not that expensive.

In any case, the cheapest tickets from Europe to US are around 450, except the really major cities, like London/Paris to NYC, where it might go down to 350 or 400. For smaller to/from cities, you should expect prices to be around 500 - 600. So if you find tickets in those ranges then don't search further.

ASP, what are you waiting for? Book your ticket now... it's already getting late.

merc,
well i thought there were 3months left, so i'll do it later.
Anyways, I just checked Lufthansa and they charge Rs38,000 for Bangalore to O'Hare...thats not a bad bargain actually.

If you wait longer, you might not get tickets. I booked a week back and Im already waitlisted in a connecting flight.

Hey folks, do you get this pickup service at your school? We have one at Amherst, and we have to report details about our flight (which will arrive on Aug 24) to the school before June 15! Talk about early prep!

We have something like that, too, at Wellesley... Internationals can choose one or two days early and participate in the so-called alumnae hostess program, which means that we will be picked up by an alum and stay with her for the night. I think there's a pickup service for nationals (is that the expression?), too. And we have to report details quite early, too, if I remember correctly.

At Cornell its a program called PREPARE. Its like an Int'l Orientation week, except 1 week before the actual Orientation.
So, we need to just give in our arrival details and they'll do the rest.
We're also handed in the keys to our rooms early. :D

the same goes for Middlebury

Yeah, the thing about picking up dorm keys makes me so excited - it feels like checking in at a hotel:) I'm sorry for woebegone though - @ my pal, there isn't a pickup service at Conncoll :p

Try www.studentuniverse.com

Everytime I search for a flight they always offer the cheapest.
