How to get through Life of Pi

Please don't massacre me as I know a great deal of you LOVE 'Life of Pi', however for me, it is such a drag.

I can't seem to get through more than 20 pages at a time without wandering off and that almost never happens to me as I'm an avid reader.

Does anybody have tips on getting through this book?

Sparknotes. I use it instead of reading the book 100% of the time. It's very useful. You should try it sometime.

I understand, but that doesn't work because we have to do in depth inquiries (basically book reviews but with more analyzing). We have to point out examples of multiculturalism, symbols, quotes, make connections, etc.

If only it were as easy as Sparknotes.

^ I've had to do the same thing and pulled it off with sparksnotes, then again my teachers are never really overly bright.

The only book I ever sparknoted was "Tess of the d'Urbervilles." It was still terrible.

i loved Life of Pi!
for me, the first part was kinda boring, but the second and third parts were the best things i had ever read
sooooo just skip the first section if you must lol

yea, I agree with oprah.

1st part was incredibly dull...

Also, is it just me, or did anyone else have trouble visualizing the actual boat he was on...i still don't fully understand where the tiger was and how it didn't notice him at first...but maybe i'm just stupid.

me too!
and i couldn't grasp my head around how big it was! i at first pictured like one of the life rafts from like the Titanic move or something lol. but then i eventually got to understand that it was a really really big boat and that it somehow just worked out
lol idk - i was only 13 when i first read it!

Yeah, I don't understand that. I keep picturing a boat like from Titanic. How can he miss a 450 pound tiger for 2 and a half days?

the boat was 26 by 13 feet...or something similar to that

I'm pretty sure that wouldn't work.

^ i'm pretty sure the dimensions were stated in the book

There's an unabridged audio version that is very well done.

Really?

I haven't read it yet, I'll have to one of these days, though...

Lol, I one time mistook a book for the Life of Pi and started reading it. It turned out to be historical account of how mathematicians calculated pi (the ratio of the circumference to the diameter). Life of Pi was so much better, so count your blessings.
