How to get to Harvard Business School

I graduated high school with a 3.75 GPA, but had some family problems happen after I graduated, so I did not have time to pursue trying to get into a good school so at the last minute I started at a local community college. After two semesters I am a 4.0 student (while taking 18 credit hours a semester and working 30 hours a week) and looking to transfer after I have completed 4 semesters. I was interested in trying to get into Harvard School of Business which is a graduate school. So to be able to get into HSB what college should I look at attending to finish my Junior and Senior year?

HBS is indeed a graduate school. Applicants need to have completed a BA or BS. Given its selectivity, viable applicants need to have a combination of superior academic performance and outstanding post-bac work experience and the highest percentiles in the GMAT. A rare handful of uber-applicants, straight from colleges are admitted each year.

If I may be so bold, your unfamiliarity with the basics of a top-5 level BSchool leads me to believe that it may be out of your normal circle of acquaintance. My advice for you would be to focus on the best Bachelor’s program you can achieve, while seeking some great internships/co-ops along the way. It won’t be the “name” of the college that will open any doors for you to HBS – but your performance and your actual work skills and experiences.

A focus on HBS at this stage is at best, incredibly premature, and at worst, open to ridicule.

Best of luck to you and congrats on your achievement to date.
