hey guys! do you know the fastest or cheapest way to get to ucb or ucla from ucsd? any help would be appreciated; please have detailed instructions with prices and time :)

UCB - flying into the oakland airport. if booked early enough, southwest usually offers the best rates.

UCLA - driving's fastest. you can also take amtrak if it's during rush hour.

won't quote specific prices -- they're usually date- and time-of-day-dependent.

so either way, you would need a car to get within walking distance of the campus? for example, is there a bus i could take after amtrak/plane to get to the campuses directly?

The 101 Bus goes from the Solana Beach train station to campus.

go to sdcommute.com to look for the fastest way to get from the airport to campus. I know you can get a shuttle for like $30 one way, but thats a bit pricey for some people.

most of my friends go to uc irvine. is there a bus that goes from ucsd to irvine?

no, but lots of UCSD kids hail from the OC area. if you wouldn't mind chipping in for gas, i'm sure you can get a ride up there pretty easily.

You can also take the train.

Yeah I'm from the OC. The drive to UCSD is extremely easy since it's just the 405 which turns into the 5 and it goes straight into UCSD. It takes about 1hr to 1hr and 15 mins. To UCLA it takes about 1hr so if you're driving, it'll take bout 2hrs and 30mins which isn't that bad really. Just bring along a friend to talk to ^^

To go to Cal, just take the JetBlue from SD to SF. They recently came out with this super cheap flight that's like $80something bucks. Then take the BART or wahtever train/railway thing to Cal.

idunno about UCLA though

southwest is cheaper. $49-69 each way (+taxes, of course).
