Hi, I'm currently a senior in high school but I also take two Biology courses at a top 60 university. I just got my grade back for the final exam of one of the bio classes and my final grade came out to.......................an 89.92 :(((((

The professor has never indicated whether they round grades or not. My question is how should I go about trying to get my grade rounded up? Or should I even bother?

I don't wanna come off as whiny grade grubber by asking him to round it up, so I thought I'd go the "can I do anything to improve my grade/make you round up?" route. I know most professors probably don't round, but I showed up for every lecture and lab, so he knows I care about the class... Does anybody have any tips on how I should try to go about getting the grade rounded up?

First, ask yourself if you believe you truly deserve it. Have you always turned in your homework, stayed attentive in class, asked meaningful questions, respected the teacher, participated in activities/labs, etc.? If you think so, then what you should do is either send your teacher an email or ask in person. I doubt either is more preferable over the other, but in person always helps with the sincerity.

Don’t come off as desperate/begging, but don’t be too demanding/forceful either. Tell him the problem with your grade, and how you believe you have been a good enough student for him to consider raising the grade. It’s important that you ask for a special extra credit assignment - anything - that would raise your grade up to an A, or any other requirement that the teacher can think of. Convincing him that you would do anything to deserve the grade, rather than receive it for free, will help him reconsider.
