Hello, I’ve taken French 1 and 2 and I have no way to take French 3 except to test out of it and go into AP French. how should I study to make sure I can test high enough to get out of it? any book recommendations? I was thinking of getting an AP French review book and studying from that, but I don’t think that’s enough.
it’s a written test, I don’t think there is any listening but I will be watching French movies regardless.
If your school offers French 3 and AP French both but you’re unable to take the class because there’s no open spot for it on your curriculum, try speaking with the class’s teacher to figure out what textbook they’re using.
If possible, also consult state standards and ask the teacher about what materials are tested on at the end of each year.
Study that regularly, and you should be fine. Be wary that you may either be given credit for the class, or be graded on a pass/fail basis. Consider finding online classes from a state online high school, or a national provider like Brigham-Young Online Highschool or something more geared towards French.
Also, please consider getting a tutor. They’d help you either review materials gained from the French teacher, or just help you get better at French in the meantime.
Good luck, yo!
thank you! I have some knowledge in French already so I think I will be okay to self study this course. do you think if I got a French grammar book or the AP French study guide I could have an easier time as well? @OMPursuit
It’s a HUGE jump from French 2 to AP French - similar to elementary school math to algebra2. Go take with your French teacher. I don’t know if what you want to do is possible. Does your school have a ‘virtual school’ agreement?
A grammar guise might help; the AP prep book, most so much. As mentioned above, ask the French teacher for the text she is/would be using.
there is no French 3 on FLVS, which is what our school uses.
I’m going into the IB program next year and they go up to French 3 and then to AP French. I just want to study enough material to test out. I’ll try to get some grammar books, thank you.
Yes, FLVS considers that once you’ve taken 1+2, you can just take College French 2 and on… at the community college.
