How to go from a 420 to 600 in Critical Reading

Hi, I would like to know how to go from a 420 to a 600 at least in the critical Reading portion in preparation for the October SAT test. I know i can get above 600 in math its just CR that makes my brain twitch every time i try to attempt to answer a sentence completion question, or even try to read one of those long passages and then try to answer the questions that follow.

Does anyone have any tips, trick, or strategy they can help me with to reach my goal. And I don't want to hear "just read, read, read" i need something more than that.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/750399-how-attack-sat-critical-reading-section-effectively.html

Practice skimming the passages while still focusing on what they say. I take my pencil and move it at a steady pace across each line and to the beginning of the next one, while I mouth each word to myself. This ensures that I am actually concentrating on the passage, and that I am getting through it quickly. If you can get to the point where you aren’t rushing on any of the questions, you should easily be able to pass a 600.

If you’re starting in the 400s, vocab memorization alone should raise your score significantly.

Thanks a lot :), this was the information i was looking for all along.
