Hello! For the school I am applying to ED, it requires 2 letters of recommendation from STEM, Social Sciences, or English teachers that you had in either 11th or 12th grade. They allow one more recommendation in this teachers section, and then they have another section for additional recommendations for arts teachers, coaches, employers, etc. I really want to ask my French teacher I had in the 8th through 10th grade, but I’m worried it will be an issue for me to put her in the teachers section since I didn’t have her in the 11th or 12th grade, but I also can’t exactly put her in the additional recommendations section. Please help! What should I do?
Only ask the French teacher as a third teacher recommendation if you honestly feel that he/she can say add something that won’t be covered in the other two teacher recommendations. More is not always better.
The first thing you need to ask yourself is will the 3rd teacher recommendation add anything new that the other 2 did not cover. If not, just go with 2 teacher recommendations. If yes, it’s fine IMO to list her in the teachers section. But I would still caution you that just because you can have add’l recs does not mean you should have add’l recs.
