How to grow taller?

Anyone know any tips or foods to help gain 1 or 2 inches in height (during your growing period, obviously)? I know most of it is based on genetics and DNA, but I have several friends who are like 6'3 yet their parents are only like 5'6, so there must be some way for me to gain at least an inch without relying on DNA!!

I’ve heard countless times that drinking milk will help you grow taller.
I personally strongly dislike milk, so…
Also, being active and exercising daily may help with growing taller. (oh and having a healthy diet as well!)

Use HGH (human growth hormone.) I had a deficiency though.

That’s what I did, and I’m probably 3-4 inches taller than my dad.

Buy yourself a rack[/url”>http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rack_(torture)"]rack

Sleep more tootsie

Try stretching. I do ballet an dI’m taller than both of my parents

I don’t know if that’s why though

HGH. It’s perfectly safe, 90% of MLB players use it.

^ Hella expensive though.

i’m 5’5, get over yourself

Oh dear… ;)

Good Diet, Daily Exercise, 7-9 hours of sleep daily, strength training. These will basically help you reach your maximum potential in height. I would know. I’m 5’10" and I haven’t been following all of this until recently. I started following this over the summer and grew an inch from 5’9" to 5’10". And my parents aren’t that tall; my dad is 5’7 and my mom is 5’4. I’m 15, sophmore at 5’10"

I’m 5’4 and my mom’s 5’7 and my dad’s 6’0.

I’m short for my family.

There’s not too much you can do… But your parents height doesn’t directly determine your own height.

Pour example… two little people (is that the pc term?) can have many normal sized children.

RNA BABY!!!

so ****ing random

People have been getting taller than their parents for the past 100 years, maybe more. Society is just healthier. But I would avoid strength training at an early age; from what I’ve seen it stunts growth.

^Strength Training does not stunt growth, but rather it releases a hormone (the name escapes me at the moment) which actually helps your growth and healthiness. Of course, if you do the exercises improperly, you could harm yourself and possibly stunt your growth. This is why it is important for newbies to the gym to get a good trainer for the first month or so to get the hang of it. The common misconception of growth stunting due to strength training is false.

EDIT: Of course, you probably don’t want a 7 year old in the gym, but 13-14 is an acceptable age i believe, maybe even 12 in some cases.

HGH, lots of stretching, eat right/sleep well, etc. there really is no one way.

^on a side note… i know this guy who basically uses that fact/myth/whatever that lots of strength training stunts your growth as an excuse to tout his ripped-ness as an excuse for being 5’7"-ish. In all honesty though, he has a beautiful body.

I’m 5 foot flat, pretty much tried everything, but once your growth plates fuse, you’re pretty much outta luck. My best bet is probably acceptance.

^That is very true. Except for an adolescent who is still growing.

@Izzy Busy Bee: I know someone similar ;)

well i can only speak for myself… but my dad is 6 foot, mom is 5 4. No man in my family had been taller 6 feet. My parents have to buy 5 gallons of milk a week because i probably drink 2-3 gallons of milk a week, plus a half gallon of chocolate milk. hahahahha

I really like milk and i am 6’4" now so… draw your own conclusions, but i have always drank milk

I’ve been drinking about 3 gallons a week since I was in second grade.
I’m a sophomore girl, and I’m 5’2. (;
