How to Handle Error in AP Subject Test Response

The Common App asked the “number of AP Tests you with to report, including tests you expect to take.” My response was 3 because that is how many tests I’ve taken but after submitting my application, I realized that I didn’t list the 4 AP tests that I plan to take in May. Any advice on how to handle it?

Do I

(a) Do nothing and hope the schools realize I’m taking 4 AP classes so I probably made an error or wasn’t sure because of the pandemic

(b) send an email to each school letting them know that I made a mistake and that I plan to take the 4 APs?

Thanks!

Your choice. Either option is fine.

Honestly, this is probably not a deal breaker and with Covid I wouldn’t worry about it.

Do you have a school college counselor you can ask about it? They will tell you the best way to contact the school(s) to let them know you have now signed up for the AP tests. Our school only now had the deadline and we haven’t even paid yet. Most important is you got your 3 scores in there.

A good time to email also might be if you have some award or honor coming down the line soon and then can drop that tidbit in also. If you don’t then just check with the counselor and see if it’s worth taking the time.

Thank you

Bear in mind, any May tests won’t be part of your admission decision. This is really a nothing question, little more than a way for them to see if some result from recent testing is still pending from CB.

Don’t lose sleep over this one.

Thanks again for the replies and guidance. This has been on my mind a lot the past two days but I don’t think I’ll worry about it now.

Please don’t stress over this. It is definitely not something of consequence that should at all alter a decision. You aren’t hiding anything at all by not taking those tests. My son is taking AP Stats right now and where he applied ED for Engineering they don’t even take that AP score no matter what. I told him not to bother taking the test. He is because he’s stubborn and his sisters did, but if he didn’t sign up for it, I don’t think a school would reject him because he decided to take 3 tests instead of 4. There can be any number of reasons why you didn’t answer that, and quite frankly, they will probably only look at your scores of the once you took and not even notice the other part when you think of how many apps they review.

Don’t sweat it.

My daughter made a mistake on something she submitted as a supplement to her ED application. If you pm me I can tell you what it was. She was mortified and thought she blew it. She debated contacting them, emailing them, sending another supplement, etc. Ultimately after calming down and doing some research on here, we decided to do nothing. Figured doing something would draw attention to it, so we let it lie. Turns out that was probably the right decision as she was accepted. But it was scary there for a few weeks as we had to wait it out. That was a much bigger error IMO than yours.
