I just met some confusing improving sentence questions, first one is like this:

In 1998, 100 paintings by 54 artists were exhibited in France at the Memorial de Caen, marking the 80th anniversary of the signing of the 1918 Armistice and the end of the first industrial war, the one that was World War I.

What does the 'marking the 80th...World War I' refers to? The answer says it refers to the Memorial de Caen, but I feel it doesn't really makes sense to refer to Memorial de Caen... So how should I judge in cases like this?

and this is the second one:

The British Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents is petitioning to keep the UK on British Summer Time all year round, claiming that nearly 450 serious accidents occur each year because of it.

I think the modifier 'claiming that... of it' is a misplaced one, because it is describing the British group, but the answer says the sentence is correct.... why is it correct?

the last one:

Einstein, one of the most creative scientists in human history, initiated a revolution in scientific thought with his theory of relativity, the basis of which was the relationship between gravity and inertia.

Einstein was one of the most creative scientists in human history and he initiated a revolution in scientific thought with his theory of relativity, the basis of which was the relationship between gravity and inertia.

The answer says the second sentence is a run on sentence while the first sentence is not.... The first and second have the same two clauses, so why the first one is not a run on?

Thanks for any reply :)
