How to improve ACT Science score???

Any strategies??? No matter how much I practice this section, it doesn't get better. I just don't know what to do?!? I always end up making the most stupid mistakes. It's so frustrating! This is by far the hardest subject for me regarding the ACT. Do you have any tips/ links for resources that can help me??? Thanks!

Well for me I never read the passage, I go straight to the questions. After I read the question I look at the graphs (sometimes the question tells you what graph has the answer.) After I find the answer in the graph (majority of the time the answer are always in the graph, it’s uncommon for them to be in the passage.) I just check that MC. If I can’t find the answer in the graphs I try to skim the passage or skip it and go to other questions and then come back to passage if I have enough time.

The science test is a reading test in disguise.

You must be quick to finish it.

I answer the data analysis questions first. I skim the passages.

Then I answer the research summaries.

I save the conflicting view points for last. I find that the be the hardest section.

Practice with Real ACT tests.
Good luck

The science sections in PR 1,296 are pretty difficult and are have poorly worded questions and answers. If you can master those, then you may be able to master the real thing. Make up a strategy. The one that you create will be more valuable to you. I spend about 4 minutes a section and then longer on the conflicting viewpoints. Conflicting viewpoints is the only passage that I read and take notes on. On all other passages, I go straight to the questions. Sometimes I don’t even know what a passage is about until I finish it  . Good luck!

The technique I used to get a 36 on the science section was to stick to a strict schedule. I would start off with the conflicting scientists and give myself 6 minutes. I went with the conflicting scientists because it seemed like a natural transition from the reading section. After I was done with that I would give myself 4 minutes for all the other sections. At first I split those 4 minutes into a 2:30 reading portion and 1:30 answering portion and although that worked, in the end I preferred using those entire 4 minutes answering the questions. Some are so easy that it’s a waste of time to read any of the passage. Wasting time is the biggest no-no in the ACT. It’s important that you stick to the four minute time limit because if you stay just a little bit more to answer those last two questions, by the time you move on, you will have been on that passage for 5-6 minutes! Use a watch in all the portions of the test, and make sure you have a time strategy for each section! Good luck!
