I just received my ACT scores back from the April 2011 ACT, and I am disappointed. How do I improve a 31 to a 33-34?

My sub scores were:

English 33
Math 30
Reading 31
Science 31

What do I study, because I knew how to do every math question on the test? My score was a 30, so I have no idea what I missed.

On most standardized tests, they include dummy answers. So, sometimes you believe you got them all right, when in fact you did not.
My suggestion is to do a LOT of practice problems. That way, you can really get used to the test, and you will be able to spot out dummy answers very easily.
Perhaps, if it is financially feasible, you can get a tutor?
Also, was April your first time taking it? If so, I would suggest studying and taking it again. According to ACT, 50% of people do a lot better the second time.
And, do you manage your time well? If you can, maybe you could slow down and think about each question more carefully.

It wasn’t my first time, I have actually made two 31’s back to back :(. I just don’t know what to study. I have plenty of time on the test; i finish each subject with around 5 minutes remaining. I just want to get a 33-34 so bad!

Get the practice book thru act.org or sign up for the online study, its 20 bucks. Do the test and read what they have to say…it will show you exactly what you need to study. At that level, one more question correct will raise you up a point.

They are great scores, dont fret…be proud!!!

Relax, most importantly. Then make sure you got your math down. There are some very specific topics that they always cover in math, and it’ll help to go over only those. You have a very good score already, so don’t worry :-)

I took my ACT this month and got a 31, too. E: 33 R: 30 M:31 Science: 31 I also want to get a 33/34 so badly next time I take it or the time after… I’m really going to hone in on reading and math.

me too. I’m going to take so many practice tests, so I’ll recognize the question being asked on every problem!
