Even though I am done with college applications for the time being, do you think revisiting my SAT prep books would be any use? Since my SAT scores were never high, would taking practice SAT tests help improve my critical reading/thinking abilities? Since I will eventually take the MCAT, I need to find ways to improve my ability to think/read critically. Any suggestions?

You can improve writing only by writing a lot, the same goes for reading. Also, many on CC, suggest examcrackers for improving MCAT Verbal section. On a flip note, D. could not improve her reading score while preparing for MCAT. Her Reading has been the lowest all her life on all tests. On ACT, it was 7 points below her highest (English). She has always been a very strong writer though, which has been helpful in many college classes and various applications.
