How to improve math scores?

My math skills are pretty terrible. I mean, I'm only adequate at basic skills like Pre-Algebra and basic Algebra. My Geometry skills are nonexistent, and forget Trig. Math is the only thing keeping me from getting the ACT score that I want. What books would y'all recommend?

I have the "Real ACT Prep Guide" from last year. I've been doing the Math pretests to assess my knowledge and studying the answer explanations in the book, but they are merely explanations; they don't teach the concepts. I've also been watching College Algebra lectures on YouTube, but I'm afraid that area of Math is too narrow for what will be on the ACT. In addition to that, I need a wider method of study.

Besides getting a private tutor, what can I do to learn the concepts I need to do well? I excel at self-study, so if you know of a good book, please don't hesitate to tell me.

[Khan Academy](http://www.khanacademy.org) problem solved thank me later
