How to improve my score 100-200 points?!?!

Well I'm not as much of a genius as all of you on here but I took the SAT for the first time in my life this March. I got a 660 CR, 620 M, and 610 Writing. I want to get my total score (especially on the CR&M) up around 100-200 points. I barely studied for the March one--what can I do to prepare for the one in May with the hopes of getting my score up and being the last time I take it? I'm not looking for a crazy high score--just something close to a 2000 total. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Just do alot of practice tests. Buy the bluebook, Kaplan’s 12 tests and Princeton Review’s 11 tests. Just do them over and over again.

If you need buy the Princeton Review’s Cracking the SAT, which personally is my favorite among the arsenal of books that I bought. Here you can study some techniques to earn you some more points. And to ace that Math section.

Good luck!

I wouldn’t recommend Kaplan’s for anything! And practice tests other than CB’s are suspect. You can use some of the other books (rocket review, grubers, etc) for strategies and prep, and then use the blue book for practice tests.

haha “I took the SAT for the first time in my life”
that sounds epic

To detreacy: Haha thats necessary on this website cuz kids take the SAT in like kindergarten on this website.
to OP: Buy practice test books WITH ANSWERS AND EXPLANATIONS. That’s one BIG flaw of the blue book. All they have are answers. The blue book has the most accurate tests, so I had that and Kaplan’s 12 Tests. Also I had Kaplan 2400, which is good cuz it gives the hardest problems. If you get a 600+ that means you probs handle the easy questions well, so I would just review the book. Honestly, I bought a ton of books and ended up only skimming the 2400 book and taking about 4 practice tests in total (all in Kaplan). By this method I ended up with a 2320. My PSATs were a 193, so don’t worry about this. Score influxes happen.

Direct Hits for vocabulary–this will help boost your CR score significantly if you learn the words. Get both volumes 1 and 2! Add Rocket Review if you have time and want a longer list of words.
Gruber’s has good math strategies.
Writing - learn the grammar rules, practice writing 25-minute essays. Go prepared with literary/historical examples on test day (e.g. just pick out a few books you can use for various themes and topics).

If you didn’t study at all the first time, Blue Book alone should raise your score significantly. If you need an answer explanation, check the consolidated lists and if it’s not there just make a thread asking about it. You’ll learn way more from the BB than from any other company’s practice tests.

Do the official guide(aka BB) from Collegeboard’s and go over each question very carefully. If you get stuck, bring the Q here, there will be many who will be willing help you ~
I don’t recommend Kaplan 12 tests… Geez those are useless.

If you go to here then on the right there is a link for “free reports” where you can enter your answers from the blue book and get the explanations for them.

Did not know that. Listen to ^^ as that would be very helpful lol.
