How To Improve My Score

I am a freshman and I have recently taken the ACT for the first time this April. I have done several practice test, and all of them I received a score of 30+. Today when I viewed my scores, I was quite disappointed due to the 28 that was illuminating on my screen. After further investigation, I noticed that I received a score of 23 in Reading and a score of 25 in Science, while my Math score was a 35 and my English was a 30.

How can I improve my Reading and Science scores to at least a 27+? I certainly do get nervous during the "real" situation when I am being timed at a very strict limit. What are some strategies that you may suggest to help boost your Reading and Science scores? If you have achieved a high Reading/Science score, what are some strategies that you find most beneficial to you.

Also, will your science scores boost after you take Chemistry? I sometimes do not understand the graphs to the full extent due to an unknown terminology having to do with Chemistry.

Thanks!
