I have a huge problem. :o I did horribly on the writing section on the March SAT. I got a range of 51, and an essay score of 12, so my final score went up to like a 580.

Could someone please offer advise on how to improve my writing score please? Recommendations would be tremendously appreciated.

I'm sure a million people have told you this, but vocab is such a huge part of it. You can usually find an obvious answer to the sentence completions if you know what each word means.

If you work quickly enough, on the sentence corrections, try re-writing the underline portion yourself in your head or with keywords next to the question. Read, read, read if you have problems with the sentence corrections.

I had the opposite problem on the March SAT: 800 on writing and 560 on maths.

The writing section is a bit easy if you pay attention the common errors. There are some common ones such as word choice,s-v agreement, parallelism, verb tense,modifier... Take one test from the blue book, correct it. When doing this, note by pencil which error is it on each question. If u can find out correctly which error is it,the next time u'll be able to get through! Good luck.

ha, i have the exact opposite problem, i do well on the MC and i got a frinkin 7 on the essay. Can someone help me out on the essay? I tried following some guide that i read which said: intro - thesis first, followed by topics. body 1, topic details, transition body 2, same thing. conclusion , repeat thesis , wrap up? is that basically all you have to do? Is it better to do three topics? and should i use a personal as well, or just books and history?

In my Jan 07 essay all my examples used history and I got a 10/12, I really enjoy history, most of it is done as self study because I already take enough courses at school. ( 8 classes)

My issue is the complete opposite. I always end up with a perfect MC section and around an 8 on the essay portion. I've taken classes and I know the simplest structure to use, but my main issue is that I often run out of time. Structuring my thoughts is hard for me and very tedious, especially on a test with time limits. Any way I can work on this besides practice?
