In practice tests, I consistently score 35-36 on the Math and Science sections, and 31-33 on the English section (I think I could get it to 34-35 eventually).

However, in the Reading section, I usually get 25-30, so the range for my composite score would be from 32 to 34, which, I think, is enough for most top universities. I think that in a few years, I would be able to improve such that I would be able to consistently get scores from 31 to 33, but I don't think I would ever be able to get scores that are 34 or above.

Would it be bad on my application when colleges see that my reading score is (far) below my other scores? Or would it be okay if my composite score is around 34. (could be achieved with 33, 36, 30, 35)

Thanks!

Let me tell you something. You would not be scoring these range in the real ACT.

What do you mean? Are you implying that my reading score does not match my science score / English score?

The practice tests are from the Real ACT Prep Book

Thanks!

he’s saying the real act book is no longer accurate. The 2 previous tests have been much harder based on collegeconfidential opinions.

I totally agree with Pick, if you do want to find out your real range I suggest you go find a past paper that is 2013 or newer to see if you can score those range. I recommend you go buy a barrons 6 ACT test book, I think it’s just slighty harder than today’s ACT test.

Note that the scores are scaled, so if the tests are more difficult, then the curve will be better, right?

How can I find a past paper that is 2013 or newer?

Are there books aside from the barron’s 6 ACT test book that reflect similar difficulty (I heard that barron’s’s tests do not have realistic tests). This is preferrable a new, reputable book.

This should be your flow of how you practice:
RedBook–>Barrons–>past papers (2013)

Red book to grapes the concept and structure of the ACT, and it gives full explanation of why one is correct or why one isn’t.

Barrons: to overprep yourself for today’s ACT.(WARNING THIS BOOK WILL DESTROY YOUR CONFIDENCE, and don’t feel bad for getting a high 10s to low 20s on your first Barron’s.)

2013 papers: now you should be ready to take on the real real ACT after 11 test.

Thanks, Wilson!

Some questions about your post:
- What do you mean when you say “Red book to grapes?”
- How could I find 2013 papers? I don’t have much “connections” here, and the only thing that’s labeled 2013 paper is the 2013 preparing booklet!
- What do you mean by “11 test”?

That’s all.

Thanks again!
