How to improve on the Writing MC???

Please someone help me. I did practice tests before the real test in June but I still ended up with a 58 MC. How do I get better at it. I really want to raise my writing score to 700+, I got a 610 this time with a 10 essay but a 58 MC. I used the PR for practice, would using the CB blue book raise my score more significantly? I really need help on the writing mc. I'm so dissapointed with my low score. :(

I use to be in the same position as you. What I did was get the blue book and studied dramatically. Theres only so many things they can test you on. Remember, try to catch pararrelism like "she went and I went" dowes it sound good? Also, look for NICE,SHORT,SIMPLE sentences that make sense. I got a 550 on writing and once i practiced i got a 675.

675? is that even possible? lol

The essay helps a great deal. If you get a 12 essay (I dunno how I managed it this time around... I'm amazing at BSing crap, I guess) it boosts your score up a lot even if you did subpar on the MC. But anyways, the MC... I got the Barrons Writing Workbook -- they have a lot of tips and excercises and stuff I did which helped a lot :) It's this skinny white book, pretty good. The only thing I suggest is doing practice questions (online course, blue book, other companies practice workbooks)... because eventually, even if you're not amazing at grammar, you're bound to remember specific types of things to look for (as in parallelism, stated above... also subject agreement, which there is a LOT of. i.e. One must be virtuous, but YOU must also be hardworking. That you obviously should be a one also, vice versa if the starting word was You)

:)! Hope that helped.

i got a 600 8 essay first try

590 8 in april

and now 720 11 in june...

its quite easy its probably the easiest section to improve

i have Kaplans and barrons Writing workbooks....i just went through the practice sections and understood the errors then took like 7 writing practice tests...

for the essay i went from 8(both times) to an 11. I feel like i cheated the collegeboard lol. Basically i just memorized a bunch of quotes about technology opportunity etc... and the quote was boom... technology... i quickly set to use with my quotes to set my arguement and used 3 quotes. But only wrote 1.5 pages... It usually takes 2 full pages to get a 6. But, i guess they liked the quotes? In the essay i used a quote from aldous huxley and also talked about one of his books so i related it well.

But, i only had 1 example pretty much 3/4 of a page, and my 2nd example was like 4 sentences. so 2 examples with one big one earned me a pretty good score.
