hi. i'm taking the ACT in april, and i'm really good in the math section, but terrible in the reading and science section. i think in general it's because my reading comprehension is really bad. for one thing, i'm a slow reader. and even when i'm done reading the passages, i still get a lot of questions wrong just because of lack of understanding. ugh, it's so hard. i think maybe it's because i don't do a lot of reading outside of school. i probably haven't read a non-school book in a year or so. i can't help it, though. i'm just so busy with all my school work, and by the weekend i feel like collapsing. anyway, what should i do to improve my reading and science scores? and my reading comprehension overall? answers appreciated, thanks.

bump bump bump

You won’t even believe this, but trust me, this method works for the Reading Section - At least for me.

I used to read the questions and search for the answers and I used to make around 27-29 on the Reading Section.

I decided to read the passage first, and it actually works!

You may feel that you losing time because you’re reading the whole thing, but I actually finished approx. 2 minutes early by using this method.

Give a try with a practice test. It helped me out a ton, since Reading was the section I was really weak with.

I now score 32/33 on average for the Practice Tests.

Reading the passage first definitely helps. The first time I took it I didn’t read it first and got a 19, but the second time I took it I read it first and got a 31. Also underlining things that seem important can help a bit (but don’t get too caught up in this).
