How to improve speed/scores on Science?

The science section is my worst one! The questions are really easy and straightforward but there's not enough time (for me, anyway) to answer them all correctly, because I have to spend quite some time reading the passages in order to understand anything that the questions are asking. This usually helps me get all of the first 20-30 or so questions right. Then towards the 6th or 7th passage I have barely any time left and I end up rushing and missing/incorrectly answering half of those questions. :(

So does anyone have any tips or strategies on how to move faster through the science section (while still doing well, of course)? Any help would be appreciated! :)

Check out the method suggested for taking the ACT science questions out of order described in Barron’s “ACT 36” - you will find it in the science chapter under the heading “Timing and Order.” It helps with the time issue for some people.

Practice a lot. What I did was I would give myself 27 minutes to do the entire section (3 minutes that would be used for bubbling on the real test and 5 minutes to push myself). The first few were bad, but I pushed myself to go faster. Then after 4 tests like that I went back to 32 minutes time (again 3 minutes for bubbling).
