how to improve vocabulary for SAT

As I'm sure you know, in the SAT there are questions which give you a pair of words, and ask you to choose from a list of 5 pairs of words, the pair of words that best matches the relationship shown in the first pair.
I find that in practice tests, I often stumble upon 2-3 questions where my vocabulary is insufficient to know what the words mean.
How can I improve my vocabulary over a small amount of time - I've got a little over 1 month to do this? Is there a list of harder words somewhere on the internet that I can peruse? Or should I perhaps read the dictionary?

Definitely don’t bother with the dictionary!! Tiny fraction of those words would show up on the SAT.

There’s a good hit list of SAT words in Word Smart. There are some good tips for learning vocab too. Personally, I like flashcards. If you make your own, you’ll learn the words better.

look at sparknotes online SAT book. they have a list of 250 words under the verbal section. If possible, use Barron’s list of 1500 words.
