How to improve writing and math scores?

CR is the only section in which I consistently score well (key word: consistently). My math and writing scores are all over the place. I have Kaplan's SAT practice book and CB's Online Course and practiced using those for my last SAT. How can I get my writing and math scores in the 750-800 range?

I noticed that after reading the books Woe is I and The Elements of Style my writing score went up from the mid 600s to perfect scores. These books are just for writing and grammar in general, but they will help you easily understand the grammar in the writing section. If you just want to improve your score then check out some guides on SAT grammar; silverturtle’s and a bunch of others here are really helpful, so is grammatix which you can find for free in pdf format.

For math I recommend doing something like this: [PWN the SAT: An alternative Math Guide study plan](http://blog.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2012/01/alternative-math-guide-study-plan.html#.T0mkV_ES2Bp) . It’s a solid study plan and using all the stuff on that site (and the book if you buy it) will probably help you greatly.

Just remember, the more practice the better.

Thanks so much!
I should have mentioned: the multiple choice on writing wasn’t what killed me; it was the essay. Any tips on writing a good essay for the SAT?

^That. Also, the grammatix guide might help you if you’re really struggling a lot. Basically the most important thing on the essay is to write in a well structured and organized way with easily appealing and ostensibly (vocab word!) strong and persuasive arguments. These essays are being graded in a minute, you have to remember that. Take up the full space, support your arguments with examples (2 or 3, one per paragraph) and stay consistent in your diction and grammar.

Do a lot of practice tests. Seriously. Analyze your grammatical mistakes and read Silverturtle’s guide.

For the essay, what really helped me was preparing topics that I could write, ahead of time. That way i saved so much time on the exam because i could just immediately start writing and I had it all planned out in my head so it made for a very coherent and well organized essay. This really did make the difference for me. And like the other members said, there are some good blogs and sites that offer good free guides. I’ll post/message if I can find some of the ones I used that haven’t been already mentioned.
