I plan on applying Early Decision to Emory, which I know is a huge stretch,
but any tips on how to make my application stand out? They would be greatly appreciated :D

I'm thinking on writing my essay about how wearing a hijab affected me, but I'm still undecided.

Maybe some more ECs :S just a suggestion. Also, if you haven’t visited yet then do it pretty soon.
Don’t you need SAT II’s if you’re going to send in a SAT I score?

If I visited Emory twice, would that be a bit overdoing it?
&& I thought Emory didn’t require SAT II scores

My mistake and there is no such thing as overdoing it
Good luck

you have the stats for RD, so make your essays great, particularly the ‘Why Emory’ essay. With good essays, ED should be a match.

You stand a good chance, however, because of your unweighted gpa, ap scores, and class rank(Emory “says” they don’t look at class rank, but class rank is used to put gpa into context)…Sat scores are fine…If you do Early Decision to Emory, you will probably get in easily…For Rd, I really don’t know because I think its much harder for GA residents to get into Emory Regular Decision, then applicants who live out of state…Every top 20 school wants geographic diversity, as a result most top 20 schools are very selective with their in-state applicants…Good Luck…

my last bumpety bump bump… I swear!

bwahaha, I lied.
The due date’s just around the corner!
Ahhh, any more honest opinions?

madmadiah, I think that you have a really good chance of being accepted ED. At this point, you should be polishing up your essays. In your essay, couldn’t you express your thoughts on wearing the hijab by putting it in the context of your community service as an unofficial teacher’s aide, which was satisfying and fulfilling?

Your academic credentials should be good for Emory ED – I’d be surprised if you don’t get accepted. Good essays will help – I don’t know exactly what you have in mind, but I think an essay about wearing the hijab will probably work for you, particularly if it emphasizes faith, conviction, and coping with cultural differences. It helps to have a hook in the admissions process, and that’s not a topic Emory sees very often.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for the input!
I’m worried about my essay though.
English is not my strong suit "/
Would anyone like to read it once I’m done drafting?

PM it to me and I will give you some feedback.
