Last night I posted a unfathomably long post that I don’t think I could expect any to read so here is a shortened version.
I am a sophomore who wants to get into Columbia when it comes time to choose a college who worries that my past academic performance will prevent me from reaching my goal. I’ve always been very talented but I’ve been held back by deep rooted psychological and personal problems which I have since addressed. For the past one and a half years I’ve had a measly 3.6 GPA in mostly CP classes with the exception of Math which I’ve always excelled in. I also had no ECs to speak of. Now I am in all Honors classes which I am have As in and I filled my schedule for the next two years with as many AP classes as possible which I’m confident I can thrive in. As for ECs I am joining the schools marching band, volunteering at an animal shelter, joining an organization that teaches young kids to accept and embrace diversity within their community, joining my schools robotics club, and assisting in the organization of the local relay for life. I am trying my hardest to be the best student I can be but is it enough? What can I do to increase my chances.
