Hi,
i wish to major in Business and i think NYU is one of the best schools for it. My GPA is a 4.19 weighted, 3.67 unweighted, but my SAT score is really low, i got a 1630. I am however trying to bring it up and am taking SAT prep classes. Is NYU a school that only looks at scores? i do tons of extracurricular activities. I founded my own Investment club in my high school, i am treasurer of Student Government Association, I ran track, i am in math national honors society, and i do community service. I also took an entrepreneurship course at University of Maryland and got an A. I feel like im qualified for the school but my SAT score is messing my chances up. I know i need to bring it up, but are there other ways i can show i can fit in?

I am not an “expert”, but my daughter did get into NYU among other amazing schools. Her GPA was a bit lower, but her SAT was 2080. I applied a technique to her applications that seemed to work well. If you list your EC and any AP/Subject test scores, I’m happy to give feedback.

My extracurriculars: founder and president of stock market club, 2 term treasurer in student government, math national honors society, Maryland general assembly, economics challenge, track and field, treasurer of UNICEF
club, badminton club and summer program at university of Maryland (entrepreneurship)

My ap scores: 5 for macroeconomics, 3 for language and composition, 3 for government and politics, and 3 for world history.
I’m taking 5 ap classes this year (my senior year) as well (microeconomics, comparative government and politics, literature and composition, statistics, and environmental science)

Thank you soooo much for you help.

also, is NYU very scores heavy? I

someeone please help me

take it easy. Most business school in the states are not really that score heavy like law school. NYU Stern may really want you if you have a good ps and strong rec letter.

my score actually increased to a 1820 now.

thank you so much

Unfortunately, Stern is one of the hardest business schools for undergrads to get into. Usually, the average UW gpa is around a 3.9 and very high SAT and ACT scores. Although you have great EC’s you are competing for very limited slots with extremely qualified and high scoring students. That being said, NYU also has a great CAS program where you could major in Economics and still get a fantastic education. You have a much better chance getting into CAS over Stern. Try looking at Indiana as well since they have another great business school. But if you really want NYU, look into their CAS program!
