Hi i recently received my score and unfortunately i didnt get what what i wanted. i had a comp of 24 along with sub scores of all 24s. The night before i slept around 8 and woke up at 12 then stayed up closing my eyes till about 330. I dont want to make excuses but i think that was the reason. I was scoring in the mid 20s to low 30s on practice tests and was expecting much higher. I have aquired about 20 new practice test, should i go through them all or might there be a better solution for the June 8th Retake?

How did you acquire 20 practice tests? I think that you should definitely go through all of the practice tests. That seems like the best way to prepare.

My daughter also went through 20-30 practice tests mostly from books checked out at the library. It did work and boosted her score by 6 points.

Last year when I was a junior I was in a similar situation. I took
the ACT early in my junior year, and my ACT composite was nearly the
same as yours (25). My GPA and ECs were great, but the ACT score was
preventing me from reaching my goal of admission to an Ivy League
school. It was upsetting because many of my friends were able to get
great scores without any preparation at all. My main problem was that
I had a hard time pacing myself, so I worked my tail off by doing many
timed practice tests. Also, I made sure I read through and understood
all the explanations to the answers in the books I was using - not
just the wrong answers, but also the ones I wasn’t absolutely sure of.
It wasn’t long before my scores started getting better. I ended up
with a composite score of 34, and best of all, I was admitted to an
Ivy League school. So my advice would be to practice, practice,
practice. There’s really no shortcut except for hard work. It
certainly paid off for me. Good luck!

^ Wow. A 9-point jump. Good for you.

@smokymtngirl there was a thread that had pdf downloads of practices tests. also i have about 5 act books at home.

Thanks @IvyDude, that really gave me hope. Im currently in the situation you’re in and hopefully i can also end up with a 34 and get admitted into an ivy. I will take advantage of all my practice tests thanks

You will be fine as long as you study for it(practice tests) and get a good nights rest. I had a friend who went from a 18 to a 28 and I knew a guy who went from a 20 to a 30. So it is possible to drastically increase your score. Good luck!

Gee thanks!
