How to increase my speed?

Hello! I have been doing practice tests in the blue book to raise my score this Summer, and I am having a bit of a problem with my completion time. Generally I barely have any time left over to check my answers, though occasionally I get two to three minutes. Is there anything I can do, other than additional practice tests, to improve my speed? Thanks.

is there any section in particular? or do you struggle to finish all three? (writing math cr)

Oh, my bad! I meant to say it is in the Math section!

All I did to get faster in math (from finishing right on time with no time to spare) to finishing 3-6 minutes early on each section was practice - do practice sections until your fingers bleed.

Well thank you very much, I really appreciate it!

Your focus should never be on increasing your speed. This generally leads to a decrease in your score. You should be doing the following:

(1) pacing yourself according to your current score. If you tell me what you’re last SAT score was (on a college board test) we can be more specific about this.
(2) learning as many strategies as possible - this will enable you to choose strategies that will take less time.
(3) practicing SAT math problems of the appropriate level in each topic for 10-20 minutes per day.

Once you’re scoring in the mid 600s you can begin pacing yourself so that you get to the end of each math section. You can then read my article on the correct way to take the SAT for an 800 in math. It’s posted on this forum somewhere.

My last math score was 670-730(It is one of the non-administered tests in the blue book, so no exact score). On the one before it, I also got a 670-730. And thank you for the advice, I will definitely check out your article.
