How to Indicate a Patent

Ok, so I've been mulling over this issue for awhile now and I finally decided that there's probably somebody on here who can help me out.
I recently filed a provisional patent (intending to file the non-provisional in a few months time) and I was wondering how I should go about indicating that on the common app.
Now, I've gotten so far as to figure that I should put it in the additional info section, but beyond that I'm a bit confused. I obviously can't just upload the whole thing due to size restrictions so...
should I just mention it on my resume, should I write a brief summary of what it is, or should I link to it on the US Patent Office site (I think you can do that, at least)? I was really hoping to do the later, as there are a lot of drawings in there that I'm rather proud of, but I don't know if that's the proper way of going about things.

And if all else fails, should I just mail a copy of it to the colleges I'm applying to?

I think I’d suggest the following …mention it in your resume, writing a summary of the subject matter. You could include the provisional application number and filing date if you wish to have it appear “official.” You can’t link to provisional application contents on the USPTO website, because provisional applications are not published in the public database – after you file your non-provisional and it’s published, then you could provide the link.
