I've recently received new awards for the sport I play (I received these after the deadline), so I would like to inform Stanford of this.

My counselor says I could email them, but on the email Stanford sent out, it says "DO NOT EMAIL application materials to us. Instead, FAX materials to (650) 723-6050. Write your Common Application ID# at the top of the page. No fax cover sheet necessary. "

This might sound like a stupid question, but should I FAX the materials to Stanford then?

I've never faxed anything in my life, so I'm not sure if we have a FAX machine.

Go ahead and fill out the form, but know it probably won’t make a difference. Are you trying to be recruited to a team at Stanford? If so, by now you should have communicated with the respective coach and s/he will have determined your skill level and viability for recruitment. No “all-area” or “all-state” sort of recognition will matter much at this point, unless you’ve won a big championship as an individual. If you aren’t planning on playing at Stanford, admissions will not care that much about athletic awards, since the EC value of the sport is what they’ll be considering. Expertise is not particularly relevant if you aren’t recruitable.

Yeah, those are some good points. I’m not good enough to be recruited, so I guess it won’t matter too much. Should I just not inform Stanford then, or would it not hurt to add it to my application?

On that optional update link, how do I know what my stanford ID number is?

I’m sorry. I have no idea, but maybe you can contact the admissions office? You can choose to do what you will, but I don’t think it would hurt to add it to your app. Good luck :)
