my question: is this asking if i would use it to study abroad, conduct research, or internships, OR is it asking if i could do anything with the money what would i do with it?

I think they mean in the context of the scholarship.

It’s “THE $1500”, not “any old $1500.”

It’s the money they spoke about in the preceding sentence.
