<p>So you’ve been accepted and now you want to join my <em>totally awesome</em> group so that you can begin networking with Cal Poly students before you’ve even set foot on campus! Well the hard part of being accepted is over, but joining the Cal Poly network isn’t as straightforward as it may seem! Here are step by step directions to join the network, and if you’re interested my group as well! </p>
<p>Step 1: go to <a href=“http://hs.facebook.com/home.php”>http://hs.facebook.com/home.php</a>?</p>
<p>Step 2: At the top, click on the arrow to the right of the word “Networks,” and click on “Join a Network” from the pull-down menu. </p>
<p>Step 3: On the right side of the page, you should see "Join a Network. Enter a city, workplace, school, or region. For network name, just type in “Cal Poly” and our school should show up. Click on "Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, California to be sure that you don’t join the wannabe Cal Poly’s (Pomona) network. ;)</p>
<p><strong>The following is from memory since I’m already part of the Cal Poly network and it would be chaotic if I tried to start over</strong></p>
<p>Step 4: It should say that it sent a verification e-mail to your Cal Poly address.
For example, my CP e-mail is <a href=“mailto:amcarney@calpoly.edu”>amcarney@calpoly.edu</a>, however I have all of my CP mail forwarded to my primary e-mail which is <a href="mailto:saabicia@comcast.net">saabicia@comcast.net</a>.
Go check your e-mail and see if the confirmation e-mail has arrived. </p>
<p>Step 5: If it has not come and you’ve allowed 5-10 minutes for it to come, you’re going to have to start over again. Go back to the Networks page on Facebook and click “cancel request to join network” or something like that. Refresh the page, and repeat steps 3 and 4. It has taken some people 3 or 4 tries before the dumb e-mail finally comes. Sorry! :(</p>

It’s VERY small right now, but as more and more students get accepted, it will be a great tool for you to have come Fall 2008.</p>
