How to keep acceptance status for a while?

I am applying to several liberal arts colleges as a transfer in Spring (January 2010 admissions). i have completed my applications.

Estimated notification dates and "must-reply, or confirmation of enrollment" deadlines are different from each college. For example, College A says it will give a result around on December 1st, and my response should be made within two weeks from then. That is, I have to reply by December 14th. On the other hand, College B says it will give a result around on December 15th. In this case, I cannot respond to college A by Dec. 14th because I will not have a result from college B yet.

What I want to do is to reserve an acceptance status from college A until I know a results (accepted or rejected) from college B.

In this case, do I just pay a deposit to college A and wait for a result from college B? Supposed that I want to go college B rather than college A.

Thanks,

yeah. i think this is the only way. if you finally choose B over A, then u lose ur deposit.

you can see if college A will extend their deadline for you. it never hurts to ask.

There is no universal reply date for transfer admissions. College know this. If the deadlines/ response dates are close you should ask if you can have an extension to make your decision. (If they are further apart you can deposit and then withdraw.)
