How to Know You're In

My status said reviewed… and my details are in the unofficial transcripts. Sure hope that trick works >___<

don’t wanna get my hopes up till the email comes in! I’m an international so the letter would take a couple of weeks to arrive…

Also Im kind of worried because I applied as a CS major freshman…And have little programming experience. Sure hope it wont be too big of a factor.

Just admitted last night :3

Guess the transcript trick works? Then again so far no one has been rejected.

This is not true, a few of my friends at a private Seattle high school have already been rejected; however, their stats were not amazing.

Seattle…did they get an actual rejections letter? or just transcript didn’t load?

arekanderina…you can see where they put you on the unofficial transcript (CSE/CAS). Look for the area that mentions major. Mine said Pre-Social Science.

So far there are 9 students from my school who have been admitted into UW and no rejects… yet. We’re all international students. Most of them have around 1900-2000 on the SAT1 with CGPAs 3.6 and above. Pretty active in ex CC activities too.

nbg127, its says im in the CAS, pre-science. I applied for a Comp Sc major.

arekanderina…you/your classmates fit the profile so no surprises. And also, you will apply to CSE once you a few classes under your belt. I have a good friend that is trying to get into CSE as a freshman but I hear it is really hard.

Yes, NBG, actual rejection letter: they went along the lines of, "I know how hard it is to want something and not succeed… "

nbg127, do they redirect CompSc majors to the CAS first or something? Or do they actually admit freshman into the CSE directly? It shouldn’t be a cause of worry if I can apply to the CSE later on.

arekanderina, yes, I think that is the case. CAS first as Pre CS/science engineering? and then you can apply to CSE. I think my friend said he could apply Sophomore year, guessing that means accepted into the actual school Junior year? or maybe spring of soph year? I think he also said some freshmen can be admitted directly but it is really unusual. (He was accepted to Cal Tech and I asked what would happen if he was accepted to CSE as well…hence the discussion).
Yeah, so you shouldn’t worry.

hmm…

I sent in my application late last December, and so far the status on myUW is still “awaiting an initial review”. Plus, under the test scores section reads “none”. I have long since received confirmation letters from the university on my completed application, and sent in my SAT scores twice just to make sure. So far, my page has not changed since January. Is there a reason for this?

im in the same boat as you starrynova, my sats scores took a while to finally get transferred onto the status page, i applied mid nov, and the sats scores showed up when mystatus got changed to “we have received all materials…” it did take about 50 days for it to finally show up…
and my status still hasnt changed since beginnning of jan, its so frustrating! i just want to know!

Starynova and TECU,
UW messed up my SSN, so they didn’t match my SAT scores to my app and were unable to consider me for early admission, this is really annoying as it was their fault, and I can not do anything about it. I applied nov 23rd and it took until jan 30th for my scores to be matched; of course this was after I faxed my SSN card, Birth Certificate and drivers license to confirm my proper SSN/identity to match my SAT scores.

seattlestudent

So you have to mail in your proper identity in order for your application to be complete? Noone ever told me this before. I’ve gotten acceptances from some of my schools already and I didn’t have to mail in my SSN/Identity.

when you were applying to uw, you had to plug in your ssn. they seemed to have messed it up, so seattlestudent had to mail/fax everything in order to tell uw what her ssn really was.

So do you think that if your SAT scores are transferred when you status changes to “we have recieved…” that may be a sign your in? Because I take UW in the high school classes and my unoffical says non matriculated but underneath it says my SAT scores and my status is still “we have recieved.” Do you think they will add the rest (gpa, etc._ when the status changees to “we have reviewed.” My status is still at “we have recieved” as well.

wait, what do you put in into the “sis…id” category??

I don’t know if this is a true way to determine your acceptance. I applied for UW Bothel on April 5th My application was complete on April 15th and I received a letter notifying me of acceptance on the 21st. My Unofficial transcript still does not load. I am still waiting on UW Seattle so hopefully my unofficial transcript will load for that.

HA! Of course the day after I finally post that my status on MyUW changes to " Your application to the UW Bothell has been reviewed. All applicants are informed of admission decisions by mail when results of the review process become available." and My Unofficial transcript loaded.

I guess they just sent out the notification letter before they changed status online (by about a week). Hopefully UW Seattle Reviews my App Soon!

when you automatically get your acceptance letter, does it also say something about getting admitted into honors, or does that come separately as well?

No, honors is a separate letter- weren’t they supposed to notify everyone by mid-April?
