<p>I am a transfer student who will be looking at joining a fraternity when I arrive at UCLA in the fall. I am curious how I can plan to live in the Frat House in my 2nd or 3rd quarter at UCLA when you have to pay for a year of housing? How does this work? I hope I am being clear.</p>
<p>On-campus housing contracts are on a year-to-year basis, and I don’t think there’s any way around that. Practically everyone in your situation lives in the dorms for their freshman year and then the house for their sophomore year. I’d be surprised if you could persuade the housing office to let you cancel your contract midyear simply because you wanted to move into the frat house.</p>
