It'll differ by school. In my middle school, we attended meetings for the events we liked until January, when we had a school-wide tournament, after which the couches determined/bartered who would be on what team. I'm not on my high school team, but there, I think you just get selected by interested.

You're going to have to ask a couch, leader, or member. It's all different by school.

I'm a little confused.. are you referring to Science Olympiad or the National Science Olympiads like USABO, USAPhO, USNCO, etc.

and lol about asking a "couch" :)

i will pick the most popular one.(so,which one is the most popular? >_<)probably the National scienc olympiad

also, when is the competition of science olympiad?is that okay if i start it in the spring term?is it too late?

If you're talking about Science Olympiad, it probably depends on your state whether or not the deadline to register a team has passed. Go to the Science Olympiad website (just google it) and then go to the state webpages. Click on your state and read the rules that they set. You'll need to find a teacher to serve as a coach, and (s)he will have to register the team. Then that teacher will probably get a bunch of information about upcoming regional or state competitions. A Science Olympiad team usually has 10-15 members, so you'll probably want to make sure you have sufficient interest before paying the registration fee.
