<p>OK, so I know you can't call UCB and ask them why you were denied like UCLA does but I can't figure as to how you would make an appeal? An appeal is a way that you can tell the school something significant that they didn't know prior to your application but what does that really mean? They say they don't want letters of recommendation or anything like that so what do they want?</p>
<p>I just don't see how you can make an appeal without every really knowing why you got rejected in the first place.</p>
<p>I wouldn’t bother, they will not approve your appeal unless you have “new and compelling information” or “extraordinary circumstances” that you haven’t already reported.</p>
<p>Appeals are not to convince them that they made a mistake and should rejudge you.</p>
<p>Examples of reasons to appeal:
You spoke to someone at the school ahead of time and they said you were a shoe in for some reason (explain reason in appeal and name of person you spoke to).
Despite getting into some horrible medical situation at the beginning of this semester, you made it through this semster with straight A’s and a bunch of EC’s
You forgot to put some life circumstance on your application
You missed putting significant classwork on your application
You accidentally applied for the wrong major (probably not this one)
<p>"The following situations are not grounds for appeal:
You’d like the admissions folks to take a second look at your application.
Your friend with similar scores was admitted.
Your grades and scores fall within the norms for the school’s admissions standards (realize that grades and scores are only one part of the admissions process).
You’re convinced that you’d be a great match for the school.
You got into some better schools, so the rejection doesn’t make sense.
You feel the decision was unfair.
You learned that your great uncle attended the school that rejected you."</p>
